The B-word

I knew from the very beginning of the Nordic Cream-adventure that it would come; the inevitable question:

- So, you’ve made the Norwegian Bailey’s?

I asked for it. “Bailey’s” has been the usual way to address cream liqueurs in our part of the world for the last 45 years. So it had to happen.

And it sure happens a lot.

The term cream liqueur, or kremlikør in Norwegian, is out of use. More or less.

But I cling to it.

Nordic Cream Liqueur - that’s what Fjording is.

- So, do I get bothered by this question?

Not much.

Although we try our best to distinguish Fjording from the Irish market leader, we have to accept them as the natural comparison object.

They have dominated the field for decades. And they’ve made an impressive way into the Norwegian lingua.

I will not blame people for using the B-word when talking about our product…

… not yet :)

Hopefully Fjording, Nordic Cream and kremlikør will be much more familiar expressions to most people in the years to come.

I definitely think so!
